EmbroideryOnline "Tip of the Week--Design Placement on the Back of a Garment" 11-29-06 Sponsored by Oklahoma Embroidery Supply & Design |

![]() Dear Emma, Are there any rules about placement of an embroidery design on the back of a garment? I know I would use the center back for the vertical center line, but would I use the center of the arm hole for the horizontal center line? Also what about a jacket with a hood? Thank you, Patty . Yes, use the center of the arm hole if the jacket does not have a hood because you'll want the design to be between the shoulder blades. If the jacket has a hood you'll want to put the design a little lower so that the hood does not cover the design. But keep in mind that if the design is too low, it will not look good when the hood is in use. Use some discretion on the design size and subject matter so that the hood could cover some of the design if need be and the part that will be covered is not an integral part of the entire design. In other words, you don't want a design that will be headless when the hood is down. Happy "Em"broidering, Emma do a test sewout and those who wish they had! Got a question?
